Scope of Works: FM Serv’s project at South Street, Dorchester included the following specifications of work:
- Temporary Hoarding Installation:
- FM Serv installed temporary hoarding on the exterior of the building to ensure safety and security during the construction process.
- First Floor Support:
- Acro props were employed to provide support to the first floor while cutting the slab, ensuring structural stability.
- Slab Cutting and Preparation:
- The existing slab was cut to dimensions of 5100 x 1100 to accommodate the new layout.
- The slab was prepared for the installation of a new ring beam.
- Ring Beam Installation:
- A new concrete ring beam measuring 5100 x 1100 was poured to reinforce the structural integrity of the building.
- Ground Floor Walls and Entrance:
- FM Serv constructed ground floor supporting walls and a new entrance, enhancing the building’s accessibility and aesthetics.
- Front Door and Window Replacement:
- A sleek black gloss front door was installed, adding a modern touch.
- A new front window, matching the existing specifications, was also installed.
- Paving:
- New paving was laid to match the street, creating an inviting exterior.

- The entire ground floor area was filled with Coir coconut matting, 23mm thick, providing a durable and sustainable flooring solution.

- Two layers of 15mm Gyproc Soundbloc plasterboard were installed beneath the staircase soffit to achieve a 1-hour fire rating, enhancing safety.

- Lighting Installation:
